Applications will be kept on file for a period of one year from the date of submission.
In order to serve on a City board, commission, or committee (hereafter referred to as ‘organization’), you must reside within the corporate limits of the City of Destin.
Meeting dates/times are pre-arranged. Member attendance at meetings is mandatory and absence from three (3) consecutive regular meetings by a member shall constitute cause for removal.
Most organization members serve a four-year term running concurrently with the Councilmember having made the nomination. Please note that in off-election years or in the event of fulfilling a vacancy, the term of service may be less than four years.
Most organizations will elect a chairman and vice chairman in May of even numbered years to serve a two-year term. In the event of a chairman or vice-chairman vacancy, the organization will elect another member to complete the current term.
To be a member of the Harbor CRA Advisory Committee and the Town Center CRA Advisory Committee, the applicant must be a resident of the City of Destin and must meet at least one of the following requirements:
a. Residents of their respective redevelopment area;
b. Owners of businesses located in their respective redevelopment area;
c. Employees of businesses located in the redevelopment area;
d. Property owners in their respective redevelopment area; or
e. Principals of property owners in their respective redevelopment area.
The Tree Commission shall consist of eight members appointed by the mayor and confirmed by the city council. One member shall be a certified arborist, one member shall be a landscape architect, one member shall be a member of the city council, one member shall be an attorney, one member shall be a person employed in the development community, one member shall be involved in the real estate community, one member shall be a homeowner and one member shall be a business owner.
