[ARCHIVED] City to Sponsor “Harbor Heritage” Award for 2012 Holiday Boat Parade on Dec. 9

The Destin History & Fishing Museum’s 26th Annual Holiday on the Harbor Boat Parade will take place Sunday, Dec. 9, on Destin Harbor and will feature a new award from the City of Destin. The city’s award will go to the boat that best showcases the harbor heritage.

The parade will begin at 6 p.m. with boats lining up between 5-5:30 p.m. Viewers can gather at the docks and restaurants west of Grand Harbor Condominiums on Destin Harbor to best see the parade. A fireworks show will culminate the event.

All commercial, charter and private boats are invited to participate in the parade. Entry forms can be picked up at the museum, Destin Community Center, City Hall, Destin Chamber of Commerce and many harbor businesses. There is a $25 entry fee per boat.

Entry categories include: private boat 30 ft. and under; private boat 31 ft. and over; charter/commercial boat 30 ft. and under; charter/commercial boat 31 ft. and over; tour boat/motorized; sailboat 30 ft. and under; sailboat 31 ft. and over; and “Restaurant Sponsored Vessel.” Awards will be given for all entry categories.

In case of bad weather, the event will be held on Sunday, Dec. 16.
