Based on the most current weather predictions, all city facilities will remain closed to the public tomorrow (Wednesday, September 16th). We are at minimum staffing levels with adequate essential personnel on-duty and/or on-call to respond to most situations.
Destin City Manager Lance Johnson, declared a Local State of Emergency yesterday, which allows the city to take actions to protect the public and to apply for reimbursement of expenses incurred during our efforts to protect life and property related to this storm event. This declaration will be on the next Council meeting agenda for the Council to ratify.
Sand is still available to the public at the City of Destin Public Services Maintenance Facility, located at 3949 Commons Drive. The city will provide sandbags on a first come, first serve basis. Please feel free to bring your own bags and shovels. Staff will continue to monitor Hurricane Sally, continue to work with our community partners and continue to share timely safety information with the public.
