James Foreman was sworn in as a permanent Destin City Councilman during the council meeting on Monday, Nov. 19, 2012. He was joined by his mother, wife, daughter and grandson for the swearing in ceremony. Judge Pat Maney officiated.
“I am looking forward to having Jim’s insight on the council,” said Mayor Sam Seevers. “He is a proven leader in this community and he will be an asset to the City of Destin.”
Foreman was appointed to the Destin City Council in August as the interim replacement for Larry Hines who stepped down to run for a county office. Foreman won the permanent council seat in the November general election. His term will end in March 2014.
He served two previous terms on the city council, 1996-2000 and 2002-2006, and has served on a number of city committees. During these terms he was instrumental in planning for the city’s Town Center and development of the Town Center Community Redevelopment Agency.
Foreman is retired from the U.S. Army and has lived in Destin for nearly 30 years.
