Destin, Fla. – The City of Destin is now partnering with Nextdoor, which is a free government interface to communicate with the neighborhoods we serve. As part of the city’s initiative to build stronger communities, improve quality of life, and work together to make our neighborhoods an even better place to live, Nextdoor will play an integral role in achieving these goals. This platform will allow the city to communicate initiatives and share information with specific neighborhoods and residents using Nextdoor will receive those messages automatically. “This is a great tool for our community that encourages “reliable” online information and lets our citizens know what is happening in their neighborhoods,” said Destin City Manager Lance Johnson.
Nextdoor is a private, social network for neighborhoods who share information ranging from public safety, community events, lost pets, and other items of interest. Each neighborhood has its own private Nextdoor neighborhood website accessible only to residents who have verified that they live within that neighborhood. Neighborhoods establish and self-manage their own Nextdoor website and the City of Destin will not be able to access residents’ websites, contact information, or content. Please keep in mind that Nextdoor is not continually monitored and if you need police or emergency services, call 911.
