The City of Destin will host its annual Open House on Wednesday, Oct. 24, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Destin Community Center. The public is invited to join the city council, staff and city partners for the luncheon.
This year’s event will celebrate the city’s volunteers. These volunteers dedicate countless hours to the City of Destin to ensure the city’s goal of providing a quality place to live is met. Special recognitions will be given to all volunteers in attendance.
“Our volunteers are the lifeblood of this community,” said Mayor Sam Seevers. “It will be an honor to recognize all of these individuals for their dedication to the City of Destin.”
City partner organizations will be on hand to provide information about their organizations to the public. As a special service to the public, the city has arranged for the document shredding company, Shred-it, to be at the Community Center for the public to use for FREE during the event so bring your old documents to be shredded.
Also, the City of Destin will promote single stream recycling with Waste Management. Find out more about recycling at the Open House.
City staff will cook pork loin, hot dogs, hamburgers and veggie burgers for everyone. Lunch will be served buffet-style beginning at 11:30 a.m. Remarks from the mayor and volunteer recognitions will begin at 12:30 p.m. Council, staff and city partners will be on hand to meet and talk with the public.
