[ARCHIVED] City of Destin Operations and Damage Assessments

City Hall will open today at 1 p.m. All city facilities will be operational and fully staffed beginning Friday morning, Oct. 12. Initial storm damage assessments are complete. A list of findings is below along with other important information for residents. Note: Debris cleanup of city property (including city parks) has begun and is expected to be complete by Friday, Oct. 12.

  • Garbage/Yard Waste will be picked up as scheduled Friday, Oct, 12 (tomorrow). Storm debris such as fencing, siding, building materials, outdoor furniture, construction debris, etc. will not be picked up. For removal of storm debris, please call Waste Management at (850) 862-7141 for pricing. Storm debris can also be taken to the transfer station in Fort Walton Beach at 108 Hill Ave. NW. Refer to www.cityofdestin.com/315/Pickup-Schedule for yard waste specifications. 
  • All recreation facilities will reopen Friday, Oct. 12, and recreation activities scheduled for the weekend will take place as planned.
  • Kids Club for Friday, Oct. 12, at the Community Center will take place as scheduled.
  • Damage Assessments:
    • Joe’s Bayou Boat Ramp – Ramps 2, 3 and 5 are open. Ramps 1 and 4 are closed for repair. 
    • Beach Accesses – All accesses have been evaluated and are stable. 
    • Norriego Point – The point is stable. No damage to report. 
    • Mattie Kelly Pier – The pier is closed until further notice for repairs.
    • Destin Harbor Boardwalk – The boardwalk is open. No damage to report.
    • Clement Taylor Park – A large tree is down in the park. It will be removed as soon as possible. The seawall is also being inspected for damage. Please do not visit this park until further notice.
    • Rights-of-Way – A few trees are being removed from rights-of-way around the city. No damage to public property in these areas has been found.
