FDOT - Traffic on U.S. 98 east and westbound, between Henderson Beach State Park and Matthew Boulevard, will be shifted to the south lanes the week of Monday, March 26. The traffic shift will allow crews to construct new sidewalks and travel lanes on the north side of U.S. 98. The traffic shift is expected to be in place for the duration of 2018.
Drivers should anticipate intermittent east and westbound lane closures from 8:30 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. Sunday through Thursday evenings.
The work is part of $33.5 million U.S. 98 widening project that is expanding the highway from four to six travel lanes between Airport Road and the Okaloosa/Walton County Line. Project completion is currently scheduled for fall 2020
All activities are weather dependent and may be delayed or re-scheduled in the event of inclement weather. Drivers are reminded to use caution, especially at night, when traveling through a work zone and to watch for construction workers and equipment entering and exiting the roadway.
