The City of Destin announces the winners of this year’s Holiday Outdoor Decorating Contest. The contest proved to be difficult to judge as many Destin homes, businesses and organizations did a fantastic job of showing their Holiday spirit through decorations. The city received multiple phone calls and emails from Destin residents pointing out locations that had done an outstanding job of decorating their property.
Judges canvassed the city with the challenging task of picking the best-of-the-best. Many long-time residents of Destin commented that they had not seen this many properties decorated so well in many, many years. Destin is indeed a great community whose residents have a strong sense of Holiday Spirit.
Congratulations go out to the contest winners and all who decorated. The winner of each category will be recognized by Mayor Fischer and the city council at the Jan. 3 council meeting and will receive a plaque commemorating the contest.
A special thank you goes out to the 2016 contest judges who graciously donated their time. This year’s judges were: Jenna Shackelford, Cahlin Ruess, Jordan Dungca, Natasha Ivanovna, Sheri Bethea and Kayla Akins.
