[ARCHIVED] Post Isaac Assessments: Still Under Tropical Storm Warning

City officials are assessing damages caused by Hurricane Isaac. Currently, damages appear to be minimal.

Unrelated to the storm, the right-hand, northbound lane on Gulf Shore Drive just south of the Hwy. 98 intersection is closed because of a hole in the road. Crews are working quickly to make the repair.

Garbage and yard debris service for the City of Destin will resume normal routes this week. The next garbage and yard debris pickup is scheduled for Friday, Aug. 31. As usual, bulk pickup is available on a per-call basis by calling Waste Management at (850) 862-7141.

Situation Report from Okaloosa County:
Okaloosa County continues under a tropical storm warning. Conditions will improve through the day as the system moves away from the county. Intermittent rain will continue with windy conditions. Gulf waters remain dangerous, residents and visitors should not enter the water until conditions improve. Please note that newly named tropical storm Kirk is not and will not be a threat to Okaloosa County. Kirk is forecast to move into the central Atlantic. It is not forecast to enter the Gulf of Mexico.
