Garbage service for the City of Destin will run as scheduled this week – Tuesday and Friday. A special pick up for yard debris and bulk items took place on Saturday, Aug. 26, and another pickup will take place on Monday, Aug. 27, to prepare for potential high winds and rain.
If sustained winds reach 35 mph on Tuesday, garbage service will be suspended until Friday. However, winds are not predicted to reach 35 mph. If garbage is suspended, a notice will be sent through this website and also provided to local media. In case of a suspension, please keep your cart in a secure location, not on the street.
Residents are encouraged not to cut trees and branches at this point. Loose branches could cause more damage than if they are still connected.
Yard debris and bulk items will be picked up again on Friday, Aug. 31, along with household garbage.
Please stay tuned to the City of Destin website, www.cityofdestin.com, for more information.
