National Library Week, April 10th – 16th, is a time to celebrate the contributions of libraries, librarians and library workers in schools, campuses and communities nationwide.
Everyday libraries in cities, small towns, colleges, schools and in businesses help transform their communities. At the Destin Library, people of all backgrounds can come together for community meetings, lectures and programs, to do research, to look for a job or check out books, DVD’s, books on tape or read area newspapers.
This year, in keeping with the Libraries Transform public awareness initiative, we're asking patrons to create their own Because Statements. Just fill in the blank telling us why libraries matter to you or your community.
First celebrated in 1958, National Library Week is a national observance sponsored by the American Library Association (ALA) and libraries across the country each April.
