The Destin City Council has appointed former councilman James R. Foreman to fill the council seat vacated by Larry Hines. The appointment came during the Aug. 20 meeting
Foreman has lived in Destin for 28 years and is retired from the military. His civic involvement includes two terms on the Destin City Council (1996-2000 and 2002-2006) and he has served on various city committees, including the Charter Review Committee in 1988. He is currently on the board of directors for Destin Water Users, Inc.
Foreman will be sworn in at the Sept. 4 meeting and will serve in the interim position until a permanent member is elected in the general election set for Nov. 6. He has also stated he will run for the permanent seat.
