The City of Destin will take the next step in creating a new plan for its future when the Local Planning Agency (LPA) meets on Thursday, November 5, 2015. City staff will present the results of the Envision Planning Process as a series of amendments to Destin’s Comprehensive Plan: 2020. This is a blue print for how the City will grow and develop over the next several years, as well as what Destin will look like. There are significant changes in how big and how tall new buildings can be as well as guidance on where the highest population concentrations will go. There are also dramatic proposals for redesigning Harbor Blvd. and the Town Center CRA. It will be up to the LPA to decide whether the amendments are consistent with the State’s comprehensive plan requirements and to recommend that City Council approve or not approve said amendments.
