The City of Destin and Okaloosa County are addressing red tide issues in the Gulf of Mexico and Choctawhatchee Bay. Currently, fish kills are beginning to show up along the shoreline where red tide blooms are present. City staff is working to clean all affected public beach accesses and waterfront parks such as Clement Taylor Park. Okaloosa County staff has begun cleaning the beaches and removing dead fish. County staff began working on Okaloosa Island today and is expected to be in Destin by Thursday, Oct. 29.
Staff will continue to clean affected areas until no longer needed.
