Florida Governor Rick Scott and Texas Governor Rick Perry recently visited the City of Destin for a friendly deep sea fishing competition and discussion with local community leaders and U.S. Military Veterans. Members of the Wounded Warriors Project joined the governors on the fishing trip.
The fishing competition is not the first challenge between Scott and Perry. The two governors have also challenged each other on the job front and are working hard for their respective states to create jobs in a tough economy.
Mayor Seevers was honored, but not surprised that Scott chose Destin, the “World’s Luckiest Fishing Village,” to host the fishing challenge. Scott visits Destin regularly and often engages in discussion relating to the fishing and tourism industry, two of Destin's largest economic drivers.
Seevers presented both Scott and Perry with aerial photos of the City of Destin and thanked them on behalf of the city council for their interest in Destin and their dedication to job creation.
