Subject to the approval of the bankruptcy trustee regarding the status of the existing lease between the Mattie Kelly Arts Foundation and the YMCA, the City of Destin is working with the Mattie Kelly Arts Foundation to secure a new lease for the Aquatic Center (formerly YMCA) to open November 1 through December 31. It is the city’s intention to keep the competition pool open during this time period to help the groups scheduled to use the facility. The city is working to determine hours of operation and facility offerings. Because of the recent bankruptcy filing by the YMCA, the date when the pool will reopen is uncertain, however the city will make an announcement as soon as more information is available.
