The City of Destin is now selling surplus items through a third-party, online auction. Items include vehicles, laptops, desktops, servers, network equipment and more. Auctions take place as items are deemed surplus and bidding is open to the public.
“As city-owned assets age and are replaced, it makes sense to recoup some of the cost for these items,” said Information Systems and Technology Director Webb Warren. “There is a market for this and the auction company we are using is proven in our area.”
The use of the online auction an efficient process for selling surplus items. The auction minimizes staff time while providing the city with exposure to buyers across the country, increasing the probability of higher return and allowing assets to be sold as they become surplus, rather than waiting for an annual auction event.
All surplus items will be sold to the highest bidder and will be sold as is, with no additional warranty provided. Access the auction here http://cityofdestin.globalauctionserv.com/.
