[ARCHIVED] Okaloosa Public Assistance in Disaster Declaration Now Approved by FEMA

The Major Disaster Declaration for the State of Florida (FEMA-4177-DR) has been amended to include Okaloosa and Walton Counties for Individual Assistance and Public Assistance, following the flooding on April 30, 2014. Approval for Public Assistance means that counties and municipalities can seek reimbursement for expenditures and mitigate damages. Official details below:

AGENCY: Federal Emergency Management Agency, DHS.

ACTION: Notice.

SUMMARY: This notice amends the notice of a major disaster declaration for the State of Florida (FEMA-4177-DR), dated May 6, 2014, and related determinations.

EFFECTIVE DATE: May 14, 2014.

SUPPLEMENTARY INFORMATION: The notice of a major disaster declaration for the State of Florida is hereby amended to include the Public Assistance program for the following areas among those areas determined to have been adversely affected by the event declared a major disaster by the President in his declaration of May 6, 2014.

Individual Assistance: Disaster Recovery Centers will be opening soon in Okaloosa County; however, individuals are encouraged to call or go online to apply for assistance as soon as possible.

Individuals in Escambia, Okaloosa, Santa Rosa, and Walton Counties can register with FEMA the following ways:
• Apply online at www.DisasterAssistance.gov.
• Apply via smartphone at m.fema.gov.
• Constituents may call the registration phone number at 1-800-621-3362; those who have a speech disability or hearing loss and use TTY, should call 1-800-462-7585 directly; for those who use 711 or Video Relay Service (VRS), call 1-800-621-3362.
