The City of Destin welcomed newly-elected Councilmember Prebble Ramswell, Councilmember Rodney Braden, Councilmember Jim Foreman and Mayor Mel Ponder during the inauguration portion of the city’s March 17 council meeting. All four were sworn in and took their places on the council at the meeting.
The city also said goodbye to Councilmember Jim Bagby, Councilmember Larry Williges and Mayor Sam Seevers. Each received tokens of appreciation for their service to the city and gave parting comments to the council, staff and citizens.
Bagby served on the council for eight years, Williges for 12 years and Seevers for eight years. Seevers also served as the first female mayor of Destin for the past four years.
Bios and other information for Ramswell, Braden and Ponder will be added to the city’s website, www.cityofdestin.com, in the coming days. Foreman retained his set on council and his information is currently on the website.
Destin City Council meetings are scheduled the first and third Mondays of every month at 6 p.m. at the Destin City Hall Annex.
