[ARCHIVED] Destin Becomes a Purple Heart City

The City of Destin was designated a “Purple Heart City” at the Dec. 16, 2013, city council meeting by the Military Order of the Purple Heart.

Mayor Seevers and Councilman Foreman (a Purple Heart recipient) accepted the award on behalf of the council and city. The award was presented by Sam Houston and Commander MOPH Chapter 811 Meredith McQuagge.

On Nov. 18, 2013, the City of Destin proclaimed that it fully recognizes and supports Okaloosa County as the first “Purple Heart County” in the State of Florida. The proclamation also expressed the city’s gratitude for the sacrifices our Purple Heart recipients have made in defending our freedoms.

Being designated a Purple Heart City is an honor for the City of Destin.
