Destin, Fla. – Come celebrate Free Comic Book Day at the Destin Library on Saturday, May 6 from 1-3 p.m. There will be snacks, games, prizes, and of course, free comics! Event goers are encouraged to arrive in their own comics-inspired costumes and pose for photos with the fantastic cosplay performers from Causeplay Gulf Coast, who will also be attending the festivities.
Free Comic Book Day is an annual event first introduced in 2002 to promote comic books and encourage people to visit their local comic bookstores. Since there is no dedicated comic bookstore in Destin, the Destin Library has proudly decided to fill the void. Children’s Librarian, Sadie Lea, a long-time fan of comic books, reached out to Diamond Book Distributors, the organizers of FCBD, who donated over one hundred comics in different genres for all age groups for the library to give away.
“Everyone should try comics, at least once, just to experience reading in a new, fantastic way,” said Sadie. “The event will be a place for both comic lovers and those picking up their very first comic to come together and celebrate this exciting and versatile mode of storytelling.”
This event is open to the public, and no registration is required. If you have any questions, contact the Library at 850-837-8572 or library@cityofdestin.com.
