Destin, Fla. – On February 11 at 1:30 p.m., the Destin Library presents author, Sandra Wallis, who will give a talk followed by a Q&A session about her memoir, Not What I Bargained For. Sandra and her husband of forty-four years, Wayne, raised four children, two with severe medical conditions. Their second daughter, Heather, was born with spina bifida and hydrocephalus and doctors said she would never walk. Their youngest son, Darryl, was born with a rare disease called gastrointestinal pseudo-obstruction that required intravenous feeding for over twenty years and an eventual four-organ transplant. Sandra’s book details their incredible journey and how their children not only survived but thrived.

Not What I Bargained For was a finalist in the Word Alive Publishing Contest in 2019 and was published in 2020. Sandra is retired and living in Sarnia, Ontario, Canada, where she enjoys her active lifestyle playing sports, hiking, and camping with her grown children in Algonquin Park.

This event is free and open to the public. If you have any questions, please contact the Destin Library at 850-837-8572 or library@cityofdestin.com.
