[ARCHIVED] Father of Destin, Florida Presentation (Leonard Destin)

The Destin Library will host a presentation by historical researcher H. C. “Hank” Klein, a distant relative through marriage of the founder of Destin, Florida, (Leonard Destin), on Thursday, January 17th, 2013, at 5:30 PM. The presentation is free and open to the public. Seats will be limited and interested individuals are encouraged to arrive early for this event. The four-part presentation will include the following:

• Leonard Destin – The First Permanent Settler of Destin, Florida
(Presenter: Hank Klein)

• Looking Back at the Destin Family
(Presenter: Patty Sikes – great granddaughter of Jane Destin (Leonard
Destin’s eldest daughter)

• Living the Destin Story Today
(Presenter: Dewey Destin – great grandson of George Destin (Leonard Destin’s eldest son and local restaurateur)

• Leonard Destin – Civil War Captivity
(Presenter: Hank Klein)

• Refreshments Served – Meet the Presenters (Questions and Answers) & Book Signing

H. C. “Hank” Klein has long been interested in the history of Destin, Florida and the genealogy of his father-in-law’s and mother-in-law’s families (Marler and Shirah) and has contributed historical research for Tony Mennillo’s recently published book Salty Memories…Along The Coastal Highway – Historical Stories of Destin and the Emerald Coast.

Local writer, photographer, author Tony Mennillo will act as Master of Ceremonies for this informative evening of presentations about our Destin, Florida history. Following the presentation Mr. Mennillo’s book will be available for purchase.
