The Friends of the Destin Library will present Shirley Simpson on stage in “Leading Ladies” on Friday, January 11th, 2013, (3:00 PM) in the library’s Calhoun Room. This program is open to the general public. Seating will be limited.
Tickets for this one-hour event are $5.00 each and are available from the Destin Library. To be assured of seating tickets must be purchased and picked up by Thursday, January 10th. Ticket proceeds will benefit the Friends of the Destin Library on Ms. Simpson’s behalf. Ms. Simpson will portray leading ladies from selected plays and film such as “Shirley Valentine” by Willy Russell and Katharine Hepburn from “The Lion in Winter”.
Shirley Simpson is a former producer, writer, and performer in New York’s Madison Avenue media market. Her TV series, THE VITAL LINK, was nominated for an ACE AWARD. As a member of Actor’s Equity, she works as an actress, serves on the board of New Stage Theatre and is chair of the Eudora Welty New Play Series. Ms. Simpson starred as Laurette Taylor in an off-Broadway premiere in NYC, and last spring starred as Daisy in DRIVING MISS DAISY at New Stage Equity Theatre in Jackson, MS. Her education in theater and television is from the University of Tulsa, and Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois. At Drew University in Madison, New Jersey, her studies were in Psychology, Philosophy, and Sociology.
