Flood Program Overview
Since 2010, FEMA awarded the City of Destin and the city has maintained a Community Rating System (CRS) Class 6 rating which puts the City in the top 15% of communities nationwide. All City of Destin National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) Insurance Policyholders in the Special Flood Hazard Area (Zones A and V) began receiving a 20% premium discount beginning May 1, 2010. In total, flood insurance policyholders in Destin realize a savings of about $482,783 each year because the City participates in the CRS.

The CRS is a method for FEMA to assess and rate municipal efforts in flood prevention measures. The City of Destin has received an improved rating, thereby lowering insurance premiums.
