Biographical Information

Tuffy Dixon is proud to be a lifelong resident of Destin, one of the most beautiful places in the world. He started his career in the fire service with the Destin Fire Control District in 1976 and worked his way through the ranks to become the fire chief in 1990. He was the fire chief for more than 19 years, retiring in 2009 with 33 years of service to the citizens of Destin. During his career, with the assistance of his fire service employees, he was able to bring many life-saving programs to the residents such as Advanced Life Support and the Destin Beach Safety Program. He is proud to say he worked with the most talented, brave and loyal firefighters in the fire service.

Dixon was honored to be elected in 2012 to the Destin City Council and will continue to be an advocate for all Destin residents while serving on the city council.

Dixon attended school locally and advanced his education through management courses and fire services management courses through Northwest Florida State College, Florida State Fire College in Ocala, Florida, and the National Fire Academy in Emmetsburg, Maryland.
